Real stories. Clear insight. Thoughtful video.
Authentic Video creates documentary-style films that help organisations, communities and individuals communicate real stories, lived experience and human insight. The examples below show how video can bring research to life, communicate strategy, document culture, support advocacy, share personal stories and preserve memory.
Executive Documentary
- Executive documentaries turn research, strategy and organisational insight into clear, compelling films for leadership and stakeholder audiences. They are especially useful when complex findings need to be communicated with evidence, emotion and clarity — helping boards, executives, teams and partners understand not only what is happening, but why it matters.
- Bring research reports and strategic findings to life
- Communicate change, culture, customer experience and stakeholder insight
- Support presentations, workshops, leadership meetings and internal engagement
Example: Generation Z and the Role of Macca’s
Video can’t be displayed
This executive documentary was created to communicate research findings in a way that was clear, engaging and useful for a senior stakeholder audience.
The film combined evidence, customer stories, narration and visual material to help bring the research to life. Rather than presenting findings as a report alone, the documentary format helped show the human context behind the insights and supported discussion around strategy, customer experience and organisational decision-making.
Client: McDonald’s
Format: Executive documentary / research insight film

Video Ethnography
Video ethnography uses documentary methods to understand people in context — in their homes, workplaces, communities and everyday routines.
It helps reveal behaviour, emotion, decision-making and cultural meaning in ways that written research alone often cannot. Video allows stakeholders to see and hear real people, observe real environments and understand the lived experience behind research findings.
- Capture lived experience, rituals, practices and decision journeys
- Use interviews, video diaries, shopalongs, observation and in-context filming
- Create evidence-rich stories for insight teams, clients and stakeholders
Example: Personas, Diaries and Shopping Occasions
Video can’t be displayed
A video ethnography project using video diaries and auto-ethnographic methods to build a deeper understanding of people’s everyday context, product usage, category behaviour and shopping occasions.
The work helped develop a richer consumer typology by showing not only what people bought, but how their needs, routines, mindsets and decision-making shaped their relationship with the category.
Format: Video diaries / auto-ethnography / persona filmUse: Persona development, consumer typology, mindset analysis and shopping-occasion insight

A bulk laundry product study where video was used to support and extend a broader ethnographic research deck.
The project produced 20 video insight sequences, each designed to bring a specific finding, behaviour or tension to life. The featured film explored people’s relationship to the laundry space — a practical, domestic and often emotionally loaded part of the home.
The video helped stakeholders see the laundry category not only as a product decision, but as part of a wider set of household routines, frustrations, responsibilities and rituals.
Format: Ethnographic research film / video insight sequences
Use: Research presentation, stakeholder engagement and category understanding
Output: 20 video insight sequences supporting the research presentation
Example: Outdoor Advertising & Mobile Phones
Video can’t be displayed
A video insight project produced as part of a 2012 Mumbrella Research Award-winning study for Adshel.
The work combined quantitative research with filmed ethnographic research to explore the role of outdoor advertising across different market segments. By cross-analysing survey findings with filmed, contextual research, the project helped show how people encountered, noticed, ignored, interpreted and valued outdoor media in everyday life.
The film also looked ahead, exploring how outdoor advertising could become more interactive, participatory and responsive.

Human Insight Portraits
Human insight films are in-depth documentary portraits that build empathy and help organisations understand the lived experience behind a decision, behaviour, need or life circumstance.
These films go deeper than a short case study. They use personal story, emotional context, daily life and reflection to help stakeholders see the person behind the data.
- Build stakeholder empathy
- Understand lived experience and customer journeys in depth
- Explore emotional, social and practical barriers

Life Legacy, Memorial & Personal Story Films
Some stories are personal. Some are created for families, communities or loved ones. Others are made to honour a life, preserve memory or mark an important occasion.
These films are handled with care, sensitivity and respect. The aim is not just to make a video, but to preserve something meaningful.
- Life legacy interviews and family history films
- Memorial, tribute and special-occasion films
- Preserve memories, stories and family voices for future generations

We create memorial slideshows to honour and celebrate lives well lived, helping families reflect, remember and share memories with others.
These films are created from old photographs, family stills, archival material and personal conversations. Where only a small number of photos are available, we work closely with families to understand the person’s life, character, relationships and defining moments.
Through careful storytelling, pacing, music and sensitive AI-supported techniques, we can help bring important scenes, emotions and memories to life.
At the same time, we are careful not to over-produce these films. The power of a memorial tribute often comes from the authenticity of the images, voices and memories being shared.
Format: Memorial tribute film / family slideshow
Use: Funeral and memorial services, family gatherings and ongoing remembrance
Approach: Sensitive use of family conversations, archival material, fully restored photos and AI-generated scene recreation to evoke important memories, occasions and emotions
